Advance Adapter

This adapter plate assembly is used to adapt Jeep 258, 304, 360, 401 to the Jeep AX15, 5 speed transmission. The adapter plate is .750″ in length and is manufactured from 356-T6 heat treated aluminum alloy. Included in the adapter plate kit you will receive an adapter plate, new clutch disc, pilot bushing, fastening hardware, and adapter instructions.

Note: This adapter assembly requires an AMC bellhousing that was previously used with the Jeep T-150 or T176 transmission.

Note: Bellhousing from the Jeep CJ-7 series SR4, T-4, T-5 transmission can also be used provided that the bellhousing is drilled and tap to match our adapter plate pattern. Adapter plate to bellhousing indexing will remain the same.

Transmission

The AX15 was used in the Jeep Wranglers equipped with the 4.0L engine. The transmission case length is 24.00″. It has a 1-1/8″, 10 spline input shaft with a pilot tip of .750″. The output shaft is a 23 spline. Note: 1989 to 93 model transmissions had a .590″ input shaft pilot tip. P/N 716120 will need to be added to your order if you have one of these early transmissions.

If you are replacing a T150 transmission, you will need a new clutch disc 1-1/8″ 10 spline. Our part number LC383271. All other Jeep transmission for this kit have the correct spline to mate to the AX15.
