TH400 X TOYOTA L/C 16 SPLINE

Advance Adapter

The TH400 adapter to the Land Cruiser 16 spline transfer case is 2.69” in length. And the overall length of the transmission and adapter is 26.94”. The adapter material is 356 T6 heat treated aluminum alloy. The adapter kit includes an adapter housing, 16 spline spud shaft, new TH400 output shaft, transfer case shifter bracket, sealed bearing, gaskets, fastening hardware, and adapter instructions.

Transfer Case

This adapter assembly fits 1974 to July 1980 16 spline transfer cases. The drive gear has 16 internal splines and a diameter of 1.259”. The transfer case bolt pattern is the same as the earlier 3 speed transfer cases.

Transmission

This adapter assembly is designed for exclusive use with the GM TH400 transmission, 2wd or 4wd version. This transmission is known as the heavy duty version of the TH350. We manufacture a full line of adapters to utilize this transmission. The O.A.L. is 24-1/4” long. It has a 1st gear ratio of 2.48:1; 2nd 1.48:1, and a 3rd gear ratio of 1:1. When installing this transmission into a Land Cruiser, driveline modifications are always required. The transfer case shifter handle will normally require additional modifications to position it in a usable location on your floorboard. Front driveshaft clearance will also be an area of concern due to the width of the TH400 transmission pan assembly.
